Merry Christmas Baby B

Christmas has come and gone and with it lots of excitement, food and presents. The most exciting thing this year is the thought of Christmases to come! Next year we'll have our little angel to share all of the festivities with. The constant kicks and thumps were a steady reminder that next year our family will be a little bit bigger and our hearts a whole lot more full. I can't wait.

Baby B - you got spoiled already!! You got a rocking horse, a bouncer, some clothes, toys, lots of lotions and bath time stuff! Seriously, you  made out like a bandit! You've been busy moving and shaking in mommy's tummy. Judging from how big my belly is getting, you're also growing like crazy. I get more and more excited to meet you as each day passes. The more you kick the more I know you're excited to meet us too! I had a dream the other night that you were born, you were a boy and had really blonde hair and were VERY long. You were the cutest and most perfect thing I had ever seen. When I woke up I was a little sad I would have to wait to meet you (but I want to wait, you're not ready yet) but I could remember how much love I felt for you in my dream. I could remember holding you and knowing that my heart was full. That dream was my Christmas gift from you, I know it.

Now I get to enjoy a week off... cleaning the house and continuing getting stuff ready for our little bundle.

Happy holidays from Me, Brent and B.

Things that go bump in the night

And in the morning and in the afternoon. Baby B is busy and I can feel it all.
I smile almost every time I feel movement and sometimes B is so busy in there I can't help but laugh!
It's the most comforting feeling.
I'm growing fast and furious which means so is B! April is quickly approaching and I can't wait.

Baby B's first photoshoot

Anatomy ultrasound day FINALLY arrived. I was nervous but excited. Worried that I wouldn't be able to stay strong about  not finding out the sex BUT we did it! We got through and we will not know until April if B is a boy or a girl.
The ultrasound seemed to take forever before Brent could come in and before I could lay my greedy eyes on that screen. Definitely worth the wait. Our baby is gorgeous (ya, I'm biased, whatever).
The techs don't tell you much... but all the important pieces were present and B was a busy little monkey in there!!
I still find it incredibly hard to wrap my head around the fact that the images on screen were actually taking place in my stomach.
Despite my screaming bladder, this was one of the most moving moments of my life.
Off to go re watch the videos of B (I can't get enough!).
Here's some more pics of our little bundle:

Glowing

"They" talk about a pregnancy glow and for the first time I think I actually understand what it feels like to be glowing.
I am happy today. I couldn't be more content (well aside from winning the lottery - which is still possible).
I know I've been blessed in my pregnancy thus far. Nausea here and there but no actual puking *knocks on wood*. Fatigue but nothing I couldn't nap away.
Today I feel great. Up early, getting lots of stuff done... and all the while glowing.
Today is the first day in a while where I don't feel utterly fat but instead my belly is high (as per normal) and front and centre. I feel and look pregnant. This makes me happy.
Brent is dutifully working on baby B's nursery, the sun in shining.... and besides that little mouse that we have yet to catch (evasive little bugger he is) life is good.
Perhaps it's the hormones, the coffee I had this morning (I know, shame on me, but it was a little one) or maybe the fact that there's a little baby in here is FINALLY kicking in. I'm happy and I'm soooo thankful.
Sure, there's lots of stuff to worry and be anxious about (i.e. anatomy u/s coming Tues!!) but today I feel positive, excited and grateful.
On that note I'm going to go clean the house and get ready for x-mas (yes, it's early, but I like to enjoy the decorations as long as I can!)... AND I'm not even dreading cleaning (making me somewhat inclined to think this is a surge of hormones haha).

I've got a feeling!

Lots of feelings... baby B is on the move and now I can feel it!! It's only been the last week or so but the movements are getting more and more noticeable. I have even felt little taps with my hand on my belly. So exciting! It is by far the strangest sensation but the most exciting at the same time. When the little one is on the move I could just sit there for an hour just enjoying it. My comfort in the movements may change as baby B gets bigger and starts kicking organs and such! haha
I am also confident that my stomach gets bigger by the day. I'm hoping that most of this is attributed to a growing baby ;)
Taking B to the dentist with me (which thankfully means no x-rays!).
Off I grow...

Could Baby B be a he?

4 months tomorrow. Already this pregnancy seems like it's flying by.
At my doctor's appointment this morning Dr. Wright easily found Baby B's heartbeat. She also told me that little B was very active. She said that's a good sign of a healthy baby :)
Heartbeat was 141 and when the doctor asked "so, do you want my guess?" of course I said yes! She guessed a boy based on the heart rate. Obviously, she said it's just a guess, but it's still fun to actually imagine a little baby boy or girl. Crazy.
Brent and I will still not be finding out the sex but it's fun to speculate!
Anatomy ultrasound is in 3 weeks tomorrow, I can't wait to have a look at our little baby!!
My belly gets bigger by the day and it's not something I'm easily getting used to. It's weird when other people can tell that you're pregnant.
I've also had awful headaches for the last two weeks - thank goodness for benefits that cover massage!
B went to his/her first party last night. My brother David and his fiance's, Johanna, engagement party. Needless to say I was one tired momma by the end of the night.
Off to bed... I'm sure I'll wake up with a belly that's just a little bit more round ;)

Snoogle

Brent bought me a surprise last night: the Snoogle! I've wanted a pregnancy pillow but couldn't bring myself to buy one. Big husband points for Brent! I love it! It's sooo comfy!
This headache I've had since last Friday, not so awesome :( Apparently it's normal but I was not anticipating this much pain - ouch!
My belly (and everything else it would seem) continues to grow. It's slowly feeling more real... I'm dying to feel little B move.... Hopefully soon!
Bedtime for this tired momma

Holy hormones Batman!

Just finished bawling my eyes out. No nothing is wrong, just a wee bit hormonal. I watch a few minutes of t.v. and end up a blubbering mess. This isn't the first time this has happened lately. At this point Brent doesn't even flinch. He just knows I'll get over it in a few minutes and that there's really  nothing else going on. Geez! Thankfully my 'incidents' have all happened in the comfort of my living room. So far.
On an exciting note: the news is OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The world knows about baby B! It feels so good for the news to be out.
Perfect timing because I seemed to have "popped". I'm looking less fat and more like there might be a human growing in there.
I bit the bullet and bough maternity jeans today. WHERE HAVE THESE BEEN ALL OF MY LIFE? Okay, well I guess I haven't been pregnant before so no need but these are the most comfortable jeans EVER!!! I'm in love. I may actually never go back to regular jeans. Okay, that's a lie but for now I will enjoy my time in my new fat pants! Woohoo. It may be too early, but I'm down with comfort.
Anyways.... off to throw my new jeans in the dryer ;)

Best noise EVER!

I was able to borrow a doppler and have since gotten to hear the best noise I have ever heard: baby B's heartbeat!
It was a solid 156 tonight and was so loud, strong and fast! I got it on the Doppler long enough to call Brent upstairs to have a listen! I'm going to bed a smiley momma tonight :)
I also told my team at work today. I had planned to wait a little longer but I couldn't resist! Everyone was very excited for us.
Tomorrow marks a special day - the big three month mark! One third of the way through - wow it's going by fast when you think like that.
I'm going to bed a very happy girl tonight! :)

first outfits!

Second doctor's appointment yesterday. I was hoping to hear baby B's heartbeat with the doppler but someone wasn't cooperating. Dr. Wright was still able to pick up the heart rate which was 134 (at least I had that piece of mind). Brent was actually able to come so I left a little disappointed but happy that things are going well in there.
So today I FINALLY allowed myself to buy something for B! I had been itching to buy something, even something little, but was waiting til closer to the 3 month mark.
Here it is B, your first little outfits!!!!

Baby B now has his/her own drawer! Look out! Hopefully the fact that we're not finding out the sex will help me not spend too much before this little one arrives.

Tuesdays and elastics

Two of my new favorite things...

I’m adding favorites to my repertoire that I never thought possible.

For one, Tuesdays are one of my new most favorite days of the week. I have always loved Fridays because they bring the freedom of the weekend. I loathe Mondays because they mean back to the work-week and always seem to drag on FOREVER. Tuesdays have always been just okay. Nothing special. They don’t quite bring the mid-week excitement of the weekend or the weekend excitement of sleeping in (which I’ll be likely saying a sad farewell to in about 6.5 months). Also, Tuesdays have always been the day I get my period, NOT really something I look forward to. At. All.

But NOW Tuesdays mark a new week in Baby B’s life. I love Tuesday mornings because I get to read all about what the new week will bring in little B’s development it also brings me and B closer to the end of the dreaded first trimester. This past Tuesday marked 10 weeks and only 30 more weeks to go. Crazy. Bring on next Tuesday!

Elastics… well. Favorite might be a stretch. More of a necessity as of yesterday. You see, I’m at the really awkward stage of gaining weight, particularly in my middle, but not having that cute and super obvious. To those that don’t know about B yet (which is most people I encounter on a day-to-day) I look like I’ve just let my married self go. I refuse to buy maternity clothes until at LEAST 2nd tri but I’m really pushing the limits on my pre-B clothes. Hair elastic to the rescue! Apparently you can wrap these little magicians around your button, loop through the button hole, and back over the button to give you a solid extra inch/inch and a half more breathing room.

So B, you’re changing my views on the days of the week AND helping me find a whole new use for my hair elastics. Much appreciated!

My baby is a gummy bear!

I was a complete ball of nerves going into my 1st ultrasound Thurs. morning.
As I saw in the waiting room waiting for my turn I was on the verge of tears. The anxiety was killing me and I was so nervous something would be wrong with our little Baby B.
The technician was an older lady and was very sweet. Needless to say that didn't take away from my shock when I found it was an internal ultrasound. Not a fun surprise.
So we get down to business and she's moving the thing around, snapping pictures and my insides are DYING to know what's going on. I patiently wait.
She asks if I'm sure about my due date (I am) which of course freaked me out is there something wrong???  She continued chatting politely while she did her thing. Some of it was odd including telling me I had beautiful ovaries - good to know! Then she talked about how many times I'd get to see baby B again (which I course read into as there's nothing obvious wrong). She said she could see the heartbeat and it was 173 beats per min. A strong heartbeat! Go B go! Then it happened.... she turned the screen around so I could see. I think my heart stopped for a second and I'm sure I stopped breathing. On the screen I saw a perfect little gummy bear! A head, body, two nubs for arms and another two nubs for legs! OUR BABY!!!!!! She pointed out the yolk sac and confirmed that baby is growing in my uterus (calming any insecurities about an ectopic pregnancy). I could have looked at that screen all day.
Unfortunately, Brent couldn't be there AND they wouldn't give me a picture OR let me take one with my cell phone! I was soooooooooo disappointed :( I was dying to share pictures with Brent and everyone else on the planet. But alas, it was a go no.
My doctor should have the results in 3 business days, hoping everything is all good but I already feel better knowing our baby has a strong heartbeat and is super cute!! I could be biased ;)
Until next time....

Ultrasound... coming right up!

I got the cancellation call today. Baby B and I have a date on Thurs morning for an early ultra sound!
My appt was originally scheduled for Sept 25th which seemed like FOREVER away. I put myself on the cancellation list and here we go.
I have been aching to see little B but now that it's scheduled I'm surprised at how terrified I am. Brent thinks I'm nuts because I was worried when I had to wait and now I'm worried that it's almost here.
It doesn't make sense. I am excited, I can't wait to see B. But I worry that something will be wrong. Up until this point it's all kind of been very abstract and now I get to really see what's going on and know either good or bad. YIKES!
Brent can't come with me so I'll be on my own. Fingers and toes and everything else I can will be crossed in anticipation.
On a lighter note, I finally ingested some vegetables and fruit today (sorry about the last couple days B). Mmmmm salad!!! AND I'm 8 weeks today! 5 more weeks (ish) til 2nd trimester!! So exciting!!

bed time for this momma - see you Thurs B!!

Retreat! Of the yoga variety

Took Baby B on a 2 night yoga retreat. Thankfully baby cooperated. Minus a few moments during a relaxation pose where I was sure I was going to have to get up and run to the bathroom. I made it through. I also didn't sleep much but I suspect that's more to do with being away from home and less to do with B.

I came home relaxed, rejuvenated and generally refreshed.
My 31st birthday has come and gone. No wine this time around. I got to celebrate with my friends, family and B (though not everyone was privy to the other guest of honour!). I got spoiled, as per usual.
Brent thought chinese food would be a good idea. Baby B did not agree. I had to stop eating for fear my dinner would make an encore.
I've felt really good the last couple of days. It's sad that feeling good makes me nervous. A few bouts of nausea today and I'm hoping that's a good sign. I've had a slight pulling in my left side. Not painful just feels like a muscle pull. I mistakenly googled... I'm hoping it's just the "round ligament pain" people speak of.
FINALLY met with my family doc last Thurs. Mostly paperwork and questions. Appointments scheduled for once a month until Dec. Then I start seeing an OB. First ultrasound is booked for Sept 25. Dr. Wright wanted me to have an early one because of my family history of twins. Yikes. I'm just happy to get to see B before the 18-20 week anatomy scan. Sept 25 seems soooooo far.

Can't wait to see you Baby B!

Satisfied

I have been craving ice cream for two days... I caved today (I also succumbed to eating a cheeseburger and fries but that's a whole other issue) and had a mcflurry. I feel much better!
Once again, I'm going to be a giant by the end of this.
What can I say? Baby b likes ice cream!!!! Takes after momma!

I am a baby factory!

Today marks 6 weeks. 6 weeks pregnant with our first little baby. We found out Friday Aug 3, four days before my period was due.

I'm not 100% sure that the enormity of the situation has really sunk in. I talk about being pregnant, I get excited, but I'm not really sure that I believe it just yet. I keep thinking I it will just click. I think I'm too nervous/anxious/scared at this point to really let myself enjoy it. I'm trying not to think about the "what-ifs" at this point, no need to have that energy out there.
What has changed? Well, my boobs are killing me. I literally cannot roll over in bed. Poor Brent has accidentally elbowed me and I'm pretty sure he thought I was dying. I compared it to me hitting him in the balls, he didn't buy it. I still wonder if that's a good comparison. They're also growing already. I'm almost positive that this will give me away before any belly bump is noticeable. Unless of course I tell people I got implants. No?
I pee a lot. That's really nothing new.
I get waves of nausea but thankfully haven't had the pleasure of upchucking just yet. Though I was positive last week in Costco that I was going to lose what little food I had in my stomach all over the cashier. I didn't.
I get nauseous when I'm hungry. I have realized the remedy to this is eating. A LOT. Clearly I will be a beluga whale by the end of this 9 months. Thanks B (and I mean baby and not Brent, though he clearly bares some of the blame!).
Mood swings haven't happened yet; however, Brent might offer a different opinion on that one.
OH! And I am TIRED all. of. the. time. I don't mind that though.
I'm not complaining, just documenting.
I don't like to wish away time but I can't wait to really feel like there's a baby in there. I still find the whole I'm growing a human thing to be surreal. Anyways.... hopefully this is  the start of our healthy little ones intro to blogging. Look out world, Baby B's journey has begun.
